Parliament, shortly after Bacon’s creation as Viscount…
May 1622 CE
Parliament, shortly after Bacon’s creation as Viscount St. Albans in 1621, finds the king's able minister guilty of accepting bribes and removes him from his offices.
The East India Company in 1622 becomes a joint stock company under James I.
Although Portugal and Spain have been in a dynastic union from 1580, England and Portugal are not at war.
The Duke of Buckingham after the Capture of Ormuz in 1622 threatens to sue the Company, but he removes his claim when he receives the sum of ten thousand pounds, supposedly ten percent of the proceedings of the capture of Ormuz.
James I also received the same sum when he complains "Did I deliver you from the complaint of the Spaniards, and do you return me nothing".
The capture of Ormuz has given to the Company the opportunity to develop trade with Persia, attempting to exchange English cloth and other artifacts for silk, but only with difficulty.
Robert Shirley also takes an interest in developing this trade.
