The Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity is founded at Yale College on June 22, 1844.
Commonly known as DKE or Deke, the fraternity is founded by fifteen sophomores who are disaffected by the existing houses on campus.
They establish a fellowship "where the candidate most favored was he who combined in the most equal proportions the gentleman, the scholar, and the jolly good fellow."
