1582 CE
Robert Browne, a Congregationalist church leader educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and ordained, had gathered in 1580 with Robert Harrison, a Separatist Church at Norwich.
As a consequence of this and other similar activities, he has been imprisoned numerous times and in 1582 is exiled.
One of the original proponents of the Separatist, or Free Church, movement among Nonconformists that demand separation from the Church of England and freedom from state control, he is the author of a number of books, including A Treatise of Reformation Without Tarying for Anie (1582).
