Nikola Tesla produces a tiny electromechanical oscillator, a vibrational device capable of causing earthquakes, in 1898.
He also builds robotic devices and states his intention to demonstrate a device that, when left to itself, will “act as though possessed of reason and without any willful control from the outside.”
Tesla has already constructed a coil that produces four million volts, but wants to increase capacity to the point at which transmissions on a global scale are possible.
Tesla files patent #613,809 for remote control of guided missiles.
