A number of Iowa move to Indian Territory in 1883, preferring to live in the older community village way of life.

The new reservation is located in Lincoln, Payne, and Logan counties in the Indian Territory; these people become the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma.

However, despite their efforts to block allotment, their lands are divided anyway.
