Swaziland becomes subject to the Boer republic of the Transvaal in 1894.

Because of controversial land/mineral rights and other concessions, Swaziland had a triumviral administration in 1890 following the death of King Mbandzeni in 1889.

This government represented the British, the Afrikaner republics, and the Swazi people.

An 1894 convention places Swaziland under the South African Republic as a protectorate.
