Sadat, having stated "Yamit means war, at least for Egypt," (Source: Chomsky, Noam: Fateful Triangle; the United States, Israel, and the Palestinians (p. 105, note 51; 1983; Updated Edition 1999, South End Press, Boston MA, USA) has repeatedly warned that he will be forced to resort to war if his efforts at a peaceful settlement are rebuffed, but Israel and Washington continue to dismiss his overtures with contempt, secure in the belief that Israel possesses military supremacy.
