The 1855 earthquake in Edo is one of the Ansei great earthquakes, resulting in fire damage and loss of life.

One of the major disasters of the late-Edo period, the earthquake occurs at 22:00 local time on November 11.

It has an epicenter close to Edo (now Tokyo), causing considerable damage in the Kantō region from the shaking and subsequent fires, with a death toll of seven thousand to ten thousand people and the destruction of around fourteen thousand buildings.
