In one of these forays in August 1781, an unusually strong squadron under admiral Johan Zoutman and his second-in-command, rear-admiral Jan Hendrik van Kinsbergen, encounters a British squadron of about equal strength under admiral Hyde Parker in the Battle of Dogger Bank, which ends in a tactical draw.
