The Arabs of Palestine, as in 1937, fiercely oppose partition, both in principle and because a substantial minority of the population of the Jewish state will be Arab.

The Arabs immediately oppose the UN resolution with near unanimity, and, under the ostensible leadership of el-Husseini, attack Jews throughout Palestine as the British withdraw.
