The city of Lübeck, upset over obstacles…
May 1563 CE
The city of Lübeck, upset over obstacles of trade that Eric has introduced to hinder the Russian trade and withdrawn trade privileges, joins Denmark in a war alliance.
The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth also joins, desiring control of the Baltic trade.
A Danish fleet under Jakob Brockenhuus sails towards the Baltic.
Even though war has not officially been declared, the Danes arrive on May 30, 1563, at Bornholm and fire on the Swedish navy under Jakob Bagge.
The ensuing battle ends in a Danish defeat.
