The command of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force is transferred in June from Murray to General Sir Edmund Allenby.

Allenby transfers his Egyptian Expeditionary Force headquarters from Cairo to the Palestinian front and devotes the summer of 1917 to preparing a serious offensive against the Turks.
