The Sublime Porte finally moves against Mustafa…
1828 CE to 1839 CE
The Sublime Porte finally moves against Mustafa Pasha Bushati, the last hereditary governor of the sanjak of Scutari, eight years after the assassination of Ali Pasha of Ioannina by Ottoman agents.
The sultan sends Reshid Pasha, an Ottoman general, to Monastir (now called Bitola, in Macedonia), where he invites one thousand Muslim Albanian leaders to meet him; in August 1830 Reshid Pasha has about five hundred of the Albanian leaders killed.
He now turns on Mustafa Pasha, who surrenders and will spent the rest of his life as an official in Constantinople.
