Mexico's Federalist rebellion is crushed in Puebla,…
May 1839 CE
Mexico's Federalist rebellion is crushed in Puebla, by an army commanded by the president himself.
Urrea escapes, but Mexía is defeated and captured at Acajete.
Santa Anna orders his execution, granting him three hours to write any final letters home.
Upon hearing Santa Anna's order, Mexía says, "If Santa Anna had fallen into my power, I would have conceded him only three minutes."
On May 3, 1839, Mexía is executed by firing squad.
