The French Republic has raised an army…
September 1793 CE
The French Republic has raised an army of three hundred thousand men; only a few Savoyards have signed up for service.
A much larger force of Savoyards, conducted by the Royalist camp, has attacked the French Army, and reconquered the Alpine valleys and Annecy.
However, they are not enough to remove the French presence from Savoy and the territory is retaken.
On September 13, 1793, the combined forces of Savoy, Piedmont and Aosta Valley fight against and lose to the occupying French forces at the Battle of Méribel (Sallanches).
