November 1863 CE

The death of King Frederick VII of Denmark, and his succession by his distant cousin Christian IX, on November 15, 1863,  marks the beginning of the Second Schleswig-Holstein crisis.

On November 18, King Christian signs the November Constitution, which declares Schleswig to be part of Denmark.

Regarded by the German Confederation as a violation of the London Protocol of 1852, this will lead to the German–Danish war of 1864.
