The Hurrians appear to have come to…
1629 BCE to 1486 BCE
The Hurrians appear to have come to Mesopotamia from northwestern Iran, but until recently very little was known about their early history.
Some scholars believe that the Hurrians had arrived in the Caucasus around 2700 BCE and may have expanded from the foothills of the Caucasus by about 2400 BCE.
The earliest recorded presence of Hurrian personal and place names is in Mesopotamian records of the late third millennium; these point to the area east of the Tigris River and the mountain region of Zagros as the Hurrian habitat.
From then on, and especially during the early second millennium, there is scattered evidence of a westward spread of Hurrians.
