March 1649 CE
The introduction of European weapons and the fur trade has increased the severity of intertribal warfare.
The Dutch in 1648 authorize selling guns directly to the Mohawks rather than through traders, and promptly sell four hundred to the Iroquois.
The Confederacy sends one thousand newly armed warriors through the woods to Huron territory.
With the onset of winter, the Iroquois warriors launch a devastating attack into the heart of Huron territory, destroying several key villages, killing many warriors and taking thousands captive, for later adoption into the tribe.
