Nepal receives a reward for its loyalty…
1852 CE to 1863 CE
Nepal receives a reward for its loyalty after the Sepoy Rebellion is crushed in 1858 and Britain abolishes the British East India Company and takes direct control of India.
Western sections of the Tarai that had been ceded through the Treaty of Sagauli in 1816 are returned.
Henceforth, the British are firm supporters of Jang Bahadur's government, and Nepal will later becomean important source of military recruits for the British army.
