The Second International, an organization of socialist and labor parties formed is organized in Paris on July 14, 1889.
At the Paris meeting, delegations from twenty countries participated.
The International continues the work of the dissolved First International, though excluding the still-powerful anarcho-syndicalist movement and unions.
From 1922 it will begin to reorganize into the Labor and Socialist International.
