1888 CE
Sarawak has prospered under the rule of the second White Rajah, Englishman Charles Brooke, who has not sought protection from any Continental powers although requests for protection from the British in 1869 and 1879 had been rejected.
Brooke has continued to seek protection from the British, securing Protectorate status from them on June 14, 1888.
He will rule Sarawak until his death in 1917 and will be succeeded by his son, Charles Vyner Brooke.
