1888 CE to 1899 CE
This government represents the British, the Dutch republics, and the Swazi people.
In 1894, a convention places Swaziland under the South African Republic as a protectorate.
This continues under the rule of King Ngwane V.
Ngwane V dies in December 1899, during incwala (the main ritual of kingship in the Kingdom of Eswatini, a national event that takes place during the summer solstice), after the outbreak of the Second Boer War.
His successor, Sobhuza II, is four months old.
