The voyage up the Congo starts May…
May 1887 CE
The voyage up the Congo starts May 1 and is generally uneventful.
At Bangala Station, Barttelot and Tippu Tip continue up to Stanley Falls in the Henry Reed, while Stanley takes the Aruwimi to Yambuya.
The inhabitants of Yambuya refuse permission to reside in their village, so Stanley attacks and drives the villagers away, turning the deserted village into a fortified camp.
Meanwhile, at Stanley Falls, Tippu Tip attempts to acquire carriers, but he believes that Stanley has broken his part of their agreement by leaving ammunition behind, and Barttelot comes to Yambuya with only an indefinite promise that carriers will arrive in several weeks.
