The first clashes between the Red Sticks…
July 1813 CE
A group of territorial militia intercepts a party of Red Sticks returning from Spanish Florida, where they had acquired arms from the Spanish governor at Pensacola.
The Red Sticks escape and the soldiers loot what they find.
Seeing the Americans looting, the Creek regroup and attack and defeated the Americans.
The Battle of Burnt Corn, as the exchange becomes known, broadens the Creek Civil War to include American forces.
