November 1875 CE
The Giles expedition had covered over three hundred and twenty miles (five hundred and ten kilometers) without finding a drop of water, when, almost by accident, on September 17 a supply had been found in a small hollow between sand dunes at Queen Victoria Spring, saving the party.
After a rest of nine days the journey had resumed on October 6, the course being still west.
Ten days later, the expedition had been attacked by a large body of aborigines and Giles had been compelled to fire on them.
On November 4, they had met a white stockman at Tootra out-camp, east of Bindi Bindi.
Their course was then west to Walebing Station, then southwest, and on November 11, they arrive at New Norcia, where they are welcomed by Bishop Salvado.
