British authorities in Palestine have refused entry…
November 1940 CE
British authorities in Palestine have refused entry to some two hundred German Jewish refugees—mostly women and children, who had sailed to the harbor of Haifa aboard two smaller ships—and have transfer the refugees to the Patria, intending to deport them to Mauritius.
Elements within Palestine's Jewish Committee mine the ship in order to prevent its departure on November 25, 1940, resulting in the deaths of some one hundred and seventy to two hundred, among them a British policeman who had tried to open a brig in which there were some prisoners.
