Chaim Weizmann arrives in Palestine on April 1, 1918 to assist the British Mandate.

He heads the Zionist commission (Vaad HaTzirim) that has been mandated by the British Government to be the liaison between the military administration and the Yishuv.

It is also empowered to coordinate relief efforts and make recommendations regarding the future development of the country.
