King Hussein seeks an accommodation with Arafat…
November 1984 CE
King Hussein seeks an accommodation with Arafat and the PLO, expelled from Lebanon and its bases destroyed; the two men reach a temporary and somewhat uneasy alliance.
In order to strengthen his legitimacy in the eyes of Palestinians, Hussein, allows the Palestine National Council (a virtual parliament of the Palestinians) to meet in Amman in 1984, the first time it has met there since Jordan's crushing of the PLO armed forces in 1970.
