The creation of the new Syrian kingdom…
April 1920 CE
From April 4 to 8, Arab rioters attack the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem.
The anti-Zionist riots lead to the death of five Jews and the wounding of more than two hundred; four Arabs lose their lives and twenty-one are injured.
British authorities attribute the riots to Arab disappointment at not having the promises of independence fulfilled and to fears, played on by some Muslim and Christian leaders, of a massive influx of Jews.
The British remove from office Musa Kazim al-Husseini, mayor of Jerusalem, for opposing their pro-Zionist policies, and arrest Jabotinsky and others for organizing a self-defense league.
