Alberto del Canto (1547–1611) is a Portuguese soldier and explorer.

He was born Alberto do Canto, on Terceira Island, Azores.

During the colonization of America, Canto explores the northeastern part of Mexico, and founds several cities, such as Saltillo, of which he is the first mayor (1575).

He changes his name to the Castilian form, del Canto, while serving in what is at this time New Spain.
