Bhuvanaikabahu VII
King of Kotte
Years: 1468 - 1521
Bhuvanaikabahu VII is King of Kotte in the sixteenth century, who rules from 1521 to 1551.
He is the eldest son of Vijayabahu VII of Kotte, whom he succeeds, and his chief queen Anula Kahatuda.
He was born in 1468 and his brothers are Mayadunne of Sitawaka and Rayigam Bandara.
After his father marries a second time, his new queen brings a son from another relationship called Deva Rajasinghe, to whom the king intends to pass on the crown.
Bhuvanaikabahu and his two brothers respond by fleeing the kingdom, and return with an army supplied by the King of Kandy.
Bhuvanaikabahu VII is succeeded by his grandson Dharmapala.
