Gaspard Monge, Comte de Péluse (9 May 1746 – 28 July 1818) is a French mathematician, revolutionary, and inventor of descriptive geometry, the theoretical basis on which technical drawing is based.

During the French Revolution he serves as minister of the Marine and is involved in the reform of the French educational system, founding the École Polytechnique.
