1400 – 1467) is a German realist sculptor, engraver and painter born in Reichenhofen, Bavaria.
His style is highly influenced by the Flemish realist sculptor Claus Sluter, and he too becomes an important figure in the transition from International Gothic to a more naturalistic idiom in line with Renaissance art, which is unfolding south of the Alps.
Multscher is a financially successful artisan, hiring up to sixteen assistants in his workshop at any one time.
It is largely because of his prodigious production ability that the style of northern realism is spread as far as it is.
