Maximilian I, Duke/Elector of Bavaria (17 April 1573 – 27 September 1651), called "the Great", is a Wittelsbach ruler of Bavaria and a prince-elector (Kurfürst) of the Holy Roman Empire.
His reign is marked by the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648).
