Count Mikhail Nikolayevich Muravyov (October 12, 1796 in Moscow – September 12, 1866 in Saint Petersburg) is a Russian imperial statesman of the nineteenth century, most known for his putting down Polish-Lithuanian uprisings, and subsequent cultural and social depolonization of Northwestern Krai (today's Belarus and Lithuania)
He should not be confused with his grandson, Mikhail Nikolayevich Muravyov, who will serve as Russian Foreign Minister between 1897 and 1900.
