1618 CE
Muhammad Pasha, a good friend of the exiled Fakhr ad-Din, becomes governor of Damascus, and the teen-aged Sultan Osman II welcomes the Druze leader back in 1618 to expand his territories in all directions, with the blessings of the Porte, unaware that Fakhr remains secretly allied with Tuscany.
Fakhr makes peace after his return, with his old rival Yusuf Sayfa, cementing it with a marriage alliance, and resumes his conquests.
