New settlers, members of the Corded Ware culture, arrive in eastern Norway between 3000 and 2500 BCE.

They are Indo-European-speaking farmers who grow grain and keep cows and sheep.

The hunting-fishing population of the west coast is also gradually replaced by farmers, though hunting and fishing remain useful secondary means of livelihood.
