Aripert, eight months after assuming the Lombard kingship, faces a rebellion led by Count Raginpert of Turin, son of Godepert, Liutpert's great-uncle, and Raginpert’s son Aripert.

Raginpert and his Neustrians (men of Piedmont) go out to meet the regent, Ansprand, in battle and defeats him at Novara, Raginpert succeeds in capturing Liutpert and seizing the throne in late 700 or early 701, but dies shortly after.
