The Russians again advance in early 1854,…
April 1854 CE to 1853 CE
By April, the Russians have reached the lines of Trajan's Wall where they are finally halted.
In the center, the Russian forces cross the Danube and lay siege to Silistra from April 14 with sixty thousand troops: the defenders, with fifteen thousand, have supplies for three months.
The siege will be lifted on June 23, 1854.
The English and French forces at this time are unable to take the field for lack of equipment.
