France and Bavaria sign the secret Treaty…

France and Bavaria sign the secret Treaty of Fontainebleau on May 30, 1631.

The treaty, which is to be valid for eight years, calls for French military assistance in case of an attack on Bavaria.

France also confirms Bavaria's possession of the Upper Palatinate and status as an electorate.
