Count Gyula Andrassy, a Hungarian, replaces Beust as foreign minister, and the empire's foreign policy begins to reflect the anti-Russian sentiments of the Hungarians.

Before 1871 ends, Austria-Hungary and Germany are working toward a united foreign policy.
