John Forrest had been invited in August…
April 1874 CE
John Forrest had been invited in August 1872 to lead a third expedition, this time from Geraldton to the source of the Murchison River, and then east through the uncharted center of Western Australia, to the overland telegraph line from Darwin to Adelaide.
The purpose is to discover the nature of the unknown center of Western Australia, and to find new pastoral land.
Forrest's team again consists of six men, including his brother Alexander and Windich.
They also have twenty horses and food for eight months.
The team leaves Geraldton on April 1, 1874, and a fortnight later will pass through the colony's outermost station.
