Napoleon withdraws with around one hundred and…
October 1813 CE
Here, at the so-called Battle of Nations from October 16 to 19, a French army, ultimately reinforced to one hundred and ninety-one thousand, found itself faced by three Allied armies converging on it, ultimately totaling more than four hundred and thirty thousand troops.
Over the following days, the battle results in a defeat for Napoleon, who however is still able to manage a relatively orderly retreat westwards, but as the French forces are pulling back across the Elster, the bridge is prematurely blown and thirty thousand troops are stranded to be taken prisoner by the Allied forces.
