1736 CE
Oglethorpe goes to Georgia in 1736, with the approval of his fellow Trustees, to found two new settlements on the frontiers.
The trustees also select a large new group of colonists for St. Simons Island.
The ships bearing the settlers and supplies arrived at Tybee Island early in 1736.
After delivering the natives and Salzburgers to Georgia, Captain George Dunbar had taken his ship, the Prince of Wales, to Scotland, where Dunbar and Hugh Mackay had recruited one hundred and seventy-seven Highlanders, most of them members of Clan Chattan in Inverness-shire.
The Highlanders in 1736 establish Darien on Georgia's southern boundary, the Altamaha.
