The other Turkish commanders at Plevna do little to relieve the pressure on Osman Nuri Pasa, who at last perceives that his position is hopeless and attempts to break through the Russian cordon but is personally wounded, defeated and compelled to surrender on December 10, 1877.
After the capitulation of the Turkish forces at Plevna, the Russians began a general advance.
