Robert Dudley's stay in the Tower, coincides…
April 1554 CE
Robert Dudley's stay in the Tower, coincides with the imprisonment of his childhood friend, Princess Elizabeth.
As Robert and his brother Guildford had been allowed to walk on "the leads in the Bell Tower", it cannot be ruled out that they met in the Tower, even if not on the leads of the Bell Tower, as popular legend would have it.
Elizabeth is released in mid-April, after extensive interrogation and spying reveals no conclusive evidence of treason on her part, and placed in close custody for a year at Woodstock.
