The rulers of Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty, beginning…
1873 CE
Morocco had begun essentially careening into feudalism during Muhammad IV's reign, a process that will accelerate during the reign of his successor, Hassan I.
On succeeding his father, Hassan’s first action is to crush an urban revolt in the capital, Fés.
The new sultan is committed to continue the modernization and reform policy of his father.
The army and administration have also been modernized, to improve control over the Berber and Bedouin tribes.
