Alonso Berruguete returns to Spain from a dozen years of work as a sculptor in Italy, where he may have been a pupil of Michelangelo (who mentions Alonso in his letters).

Alonso’s Resurrection, sculpted of alabaster in 1517 for Valencia Cathedral, displays the direct influence of Michelangelo.
