The Americans finally induce an exasperated Spain to sell all of Florida for five million dollars in 1819, with the stipulation that Texas not be considered a part of the Louisiana Purchase.

Although Spain’s Bourbon dynasty, removed by Napoleon in 1808, has regained the throne, the Spanish Empire is essentially defunct.
