Only after a change of commander on June 4 does the Lithuanian army, now under General Józef Judycki, try to stand and fight the Russians.

The Russians, however, defeat Judycki at the Battle of Mir on June 11 and keep advancing through the Grand Duchy.

The Commonwealth army retreats towards Grodno.
